State Meet

The grand finale was celebrated at MIS on a perfect Saturday, Nov. 1, as our athletes carved their place in the record books while garnering a 6th place finish at THE SHOW! Alex was ALL STATE for the third consecutive year and 3 ALL TIME PRs were captured by Christina, Chelsie and Desi. Rachel had a SEASON PR. We are proud of all of them and the brave efforts they put forth in a huge, intimidating arena of flashy, intense, top-notch XC racing. TOP TEAMS: TC Central (129); Grand Haven (149); E. Kentwood (189); Rockford (195); Brighton (220); SALINE (221). Dedicated Hornet fans made the trek to Brooklyn and navigated the sprawling grounds to share the journey with the Saline teams and it is with gratitude and a deep sense of satisfaction that the 2008 Cross Country season draws to a close. All of the awards and recognition will be presented at the festive annual banquet held in the Saline High School Commons @ 3PM on Sunday, Nov. 9. It will be an honor and a time of joy to gather and reflect on the season as we celebrate and give hearty thanks to every person who touches the CC program and makes it happen in huge waves of success every year.

State Meet Facts:

• We had two runners in the 18’s and 4 at 19:20 and under
• We had one All State runner – Alex for the 3rd consecutive year
• Season PR  -  Rachel.   All Time PR – Christina, Chelsie, Desi.
• All Time Class Top 10’s: Seniors - Rachel is now 8th (Erin is 7th).  Juniors - Alex and Kate are now 2nd and 3rd, and Desi is 9th.
• All Time Top 60:  Desi is now tied for 13th, Erin is 14th, Chelsie is 34th, Regan is 49th.
• Saline State Meet finishes since 2000

• In the race…
  • there were 242 finishers
  • 9 runners were under 18:00, 39 runners under 19:00, and 133 under 20:00
  • the cut off for All State (top 30) was 18:47
  • the winning time – 17:10 – Megan Goethals from Rochester – the defending champion, Shannon Osika, was 2nd in 17:17 (18 seconds faster than she ran last year)
  • from our conference – Huron was 11th and Pioneer was 18th
  • the toughest Regional – Grand Haven, E.Kentwood, and Rockford – who finished 2-3-
