Jackson Community College Invitational

Saline Women’s Cross Country competed on two different courses on Thursday, August 30, 2007 with sunny, dry conditions and temperatures in the upper 70s.  Both venues were new experiences and went well for our CC girls.

At JCC, our Varsity “A” competitors found the course to be challenging and not particularly fast. However, they secured 5 of the top 6 spots and scored 17 points for the victory, trophy and lots of medals. Sterling Heights Stevenson scored 50 to place 2nd with Birmingham Groves garnering 98 points for third. Seven of our women were located in the top 15 places which demonstrates the strength and speed they bring to the early running of the season. Leptich was first in 20:00, Carter placed 2nd in 20:45 and Cummings snagged the third spot in 20:50. Please reference the results page.

EXCELLENT!!! Congratulations to our top flight.

Monroe Scrimmage

The remainder of Saline CC women traveled to Monroe for a 2 mile scrimmage against Monroe High School and benefited from the opportunity to test their “race readiness” over a modified distance. Coaches felt this was particularly beneficial to new members of the team competing for the first time.  Saline CC featured 8 girls under 14:00 minutes and 46 completed the race. A good, strong start was exemplified and we are proud of how they raced and what they achieved. Strasburg closed in on teammate, Chelsea Noble to win at the wire in 13:28 to Noble’s stellar 2nd place in 13:30. The O’Brien sisters crossed together in 13:31. All other times are posted in the Meet results that follow.

Things are looking real good for Saline Cross Country women so UP, UP and AWAY…soar, ladies. Keep up the good work and take good care of yourselves as the school year begins.
