26th ANNUAL
3-MILE TIME TRIAL

2007 THE TRADITION CONTINUES

Outstanding Performers

Gina O'Brien

Alexa Breedveld

Let the tradition continue but with an interesting new twist… Mother Nature decided to have a lightning and thunder fest on Friday, Aug. 24 which postponed the CC annual official kick off to the season for the first time in its 30 year history. Both the men and women teams kept their spirits up as they performed skits in the Middle School gym to ever faithful “not just fair-weather” friends and families. The event was postponed several times until it finally had to be canceled. Oh well, we all agreed that the earth needed the rain and we would reconvene on Monday, Aug. 27 after team photos with Tom Mac.

It was a warm, sunny quite beautiful Monday evening when our harriers took to the pavement on our Campus Loop and were off and running like the wind. The group as a whole performed with strength and pizzazz especially considering how early in the season it is. A good base level of speed and fitness was exemplified.

Varsity A ran a tempo work out on the Time Trial course due to having run the Rockford Invitational on Sat. Aug. 25. That was a gruesome, quagmire of a course so the times are not representative of their capabilities. Just to report a few of the top efforts: Alex Leptich came in third in 19:54 with Kate Carter tucked in close behind her crossing in 20:51 for a fifth place overall finish.  Meagan Creutz was 8th in a 20:59 clocking.

The 3 mile Time Trial had Carrie Frank running in the lead with a swift finishing time of 19:49 followed by Erin Dowling in an impressive 20:17. Gina O’Brien claimed the third spot in 20:26.  Nice job ladies.  We are all so proud of our team and how much promise you show for a stellar season. GO HORNETS!!!
