than anyone else as regards the team's placing at meets and
invitationals. This is equivalent to the "MVP" award
in other sports.

to the athlete who was the hardest worker day in and day out. The
athletes who are candidates for this award are the ones who rarely
missed a practices, who practiced in the off season, and who
ran the practices and competitions to his fullest potential whether
or not he was in first place or last.

This award is given
to the first time runner who made the most difference to the
team.
That difference includes not only scoring but leadership and
team spirit.
Candidates for this award are the athletes that come to mind
when you reflect on the season and say to yourself, "I'm
glad he came along.
What a difference he made as a first year runner!"

This award is given
to the runner who made the most significant improvements from
his previous year's performance or from the beginning of the
season to the end.

The blue arrow is
an award given to the athlete who made the most contributions
to the team regarding team spirit, leadership, vision, and character.
The blue arrow recipient is an athlete who takes concern
for other runners, upholds team traditions, workes hard consistently,
is a role model for other athletes, and epitomizes the sport
of Cross Country.
