NOTE: Westbound toward Portage on I-94, should be aware that there is bridge construction at the Lovers Lane bridge. There could be possible back ups. If this happens, it is suggested that you exit at Sprinkle Rd, and travel south to Romence/Bishop. Turn right onto Romence. Take Romence to Moorsbridge. Turn left onto Moorsbridge. |
For more detailed driving directions and meet info, try the official race web site at: www.portageinvite.com.
Awards:
Trophies to the top 3 teams in the Varsity race.
T-Shirts to members of the winning team.
Medals to the top 25 finishers in varsity races.
Historical Notes: We came out to portage first in 1999. Our goal was to run the Rockford Rams (ranked 1st in the state). We ran the best race all year with 6 PR's and though we took 2nd, we were closer to the Rams than any team had been all year! Over the years this has always been a great race for us with a goal of finishing in the top 5. This race is a point of pride for the Hornets and we always get psyched up for it.
