Our Home course
is situated in a local park (Mill Pond Park). The course is mostly flat with
two treks up two different 45 degree hills that run for about 50 yards. The
course starts out with a flat first mile along the bank of the Mill pond, and
then along the woods. The second mile offers a trek up the Toboggan Hill,
then over a one lane bridge and around a small island (due to limited visibility
this is a great place to surge if you can deal with the sharp turns and poor
footing due to roots and wood chips). The last mile runs along then pond,
then a tree line for about 600 meters, then up "Killer Hill." When you crest
the hill you have about 800 meters to go along the woods and then to the finish!
Our course is slower than most due to the two hills and the several sharp turns
on the island. A time of 17:30 is a great time on our course--it tends
to be 30-45 sec slower than your average 5K course.
